I am with you on Chilean wine, as well.
Wild Turkey is some good sh......um..... stuff! As for wine, I know that Argentina and Chile both make fine wines, but the wine I want to bring is made in my home town in the heart of Missouri. Giving them wine from another place wouldn't quite have the same 'feel', if you know what I mean. Cool

It's 41 million, just under actually.

I haven't opened any of the wine I brought over. Hopefully it'll settle again Razz

According to DANEs (Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadistica) latest in 2005 it was 42.090.502. Using DANE's adjustment model it would be 44.130.015

You tell us, Rubito, when did you hear it and from whom-I will accept DANE's figures. Of course we are just making this up so YOU will look bad-give me a break.

I really don't care if I'm right or wrong... its just we had a whole thread about the census results coming out last year and that there were a few million fewer Colombians than everybody had thought Razz

So I guess it's not worth it to bring more Colombians back after all, they already have enough ;P

Hola!

If you need CPVC for hot water, bring your own CPVC ball valves. The HomeCenter in Cali did not have them. In addition, Shark Bite Connectors are great to connect CPVC to Pex tubing for solar hot water operations! Applause http://cashacme.com/pdf_sharkbite/sales/SharkBiteFittingsSales61305.pdf

Hola!

http://www.hardwarestore.com/media/product/119289_front200.jpg

CPVC is harder and lasts longer. The glue is different also. Still, we used CPVC for cold and hot water, since got our CPVC in 3 meter tubes at the HomeCenter. Why worry which to use? Use the best and not worry!

Muroplac is available at the HomeCenter... Applause

Unless you run very "cool" hot water through it, PVC will expand and eventually break from excess heat. PVC is only good for cold water applications. You should use CPVC for hot water, though it can be used for both hot and cold. It is only a bit more expensive and uses a different type of glue. (I used to work in plumbing, among other things...lol)

I noticed it seems to be very hard to find laundry detergent with NO perfume in it here. Does anybody have any ideas on that one?

My GF SWEARS we are getting yellow lemons at the market next week. I will keep you posted!

Good luck with both things. Lorena never saw a yellow lemon before the first time we went shopping in the states. And not only do the detergents in Colombia have perfume, they seem to have LOTS of perfume! Thank goodness we have nice, pungent fabric softeners in the US. If not, I don't think Lorena would believe anything was clean. Laughing

Hola!

Bring bottles of generic Aspirina...Aspirin for the english speakers. Bayer still has the trademark in Colombia, so you can make alot of older people happy when they take their daily aspirina every day for about 20 pesos a dose for their high blood pressure. Applause

They are CHEAP for $1 and could easily cost 4 or 5 times there!

You can ALWAYS get generic drugs in Colombia cheap, patent or not! I wouldn't bring anything like that.

I couldn't find the yellow lemons and STILL can't find any detergents etc without added perfumes etc. That's the extent of my wish list right now, that and oversize shirts and sportswear.

But aspirin, tylenol...that sort of thing...cheaper HERE.

I thought about that bigass bottle of ibuprofen tablets they sell at Costco for $8.99 or whatever it is. I'll have to get someone to go into Makro there and find if they have something like that and what the price difference is if any.

I dunno...all these lugging things back and forth is not really my cup of tea. I can manage pretty much with the stuff I get there. If I ever buy that farm on the mountains I will import a Finnish sauna there....and my life would be perfect.

Cheers,
Desi Cool

Yeh Perse that would just be 'mas sal que chivo', you're gonna pay like 3x what the stuff is worth to send it?

I think I just haven't found the right store yet in BOG. It's not super easy to get here either.
